Abstract:
Am effective and successful leadership is considered as the significant aspect in the
educational environment. A leadership style is a leader’s method of providing direction,
implementing plans, and motivating employees. There were many accurate leaderships
skills in management of our educational institutions that were lacking in
administrations, affecting the individual’s trait to achieve an organizational goal. With
respect of the pedagogical aim of this dissertation, it investigated the relationship of
effective leaders in the Senior High Schools. An assessment was adopted to make factsfindings
about the contribution of school leadership to the teachers’ performance and
students’ achievements that existed at that time. Samples were collected from the
population of Kadjebi-Asato Senior High School. Questionnaire and interview were
the research instruments used in collecting data as the effective part of the research
investigation because it increases the validity and reliability of research findings. This
study made used of both qualitative and quantitative (mixed method) approach for the
presentation of the results. The Headmaster of the Senior High Schools along with their
teams such as the Assistant Headmasters and certain teachers or administrative team
holds the entire responsibility of enhancing the learning of the students not only inside
the classrooms but outside also. The management possess an effective influence upon
the students and the environment of the schools and act as role models that can be
followed by teachers and students. The results of the analysis lead towards the
conclusion that leadership practices that are applied by the headmaster and his team
certain problematic areas were helpful for the students since it assists them achieving
the high grades and it was also reflected in the satisfaction among the teachers by their
responses in the questionnaire survey. The dissertation’s result asserts that the
performance of the management effects upon the teachers and directly impacts on the
achievement of students which helped them to improve their learning. In light of the
findings, the dissertation recommended that the headmaster and his management team
should devise clear and unambiguous purpose of the Kadjebi-Asato Senior High School
and set priorities that will facilitate the educators and learners go be innovative and
autonomous inside the defined boundaries. Also recommended for the management to
facilitate the teachers and students with the plenty of resources that will allow then to
take the constructive decision and present productive suggestion instead of pooling
opinions. The management was again recommended that in order to exhibit the
leadership behaviour, they should devise the common vision which is potential to
address the needs of the educators and learners. Finally, the findings called for shift in
our poor educational management into effective leadership. Making leadership relevant
for our prerequisite, we must indeed strive to develop a new ideology for our
educational management that will seek to answer questions like, “Effective leadership
is about what?”, “Effective leadership for whom?”.
