The study assessed the impact of performance management system on employee’s productivity by using the Atwima Mponua Rural Bank as the study context. Specifically, the objectives of the study were; to investigate the performance management systems used by Atwima Mponua Rural Bank; investigate the effect performance management systems have employee task performance and lastly to investigate the influence performance management systems have organizational citizen behaviour. The study used a survey research design. The study population was drawn from all the employees who worked in the various departments of the Atwima Mponua Rural Bank Limited. In this study, both lower level, middle level and upper level employees constituted the study population. The study used a multi-stage cluster sampling technique in selecting the participants. Guided by the Krejcie and Morgan sampling table, 80 employees were randomly selected from all the eight branches. The scale used in measuring perception of performance management system, employee task performance and organizational citizen behaviour were adapted from existing scales. Data was analyzed with both descriptive statistics and inferential statistics. Findings from the study suggest that performance management system did not only have an impact on the employee task performance but also shape the employee organizational citizen behaviour. This suggests that the kind of practices the bank includes in its performance management system will have a significant influence on employee performance in diverse ways. Accordingly, it is recommended to the human resource department of the bank to pay particularly attention to their performance management system since the content and structure of it could have a substantial effect on the employee outcomes. |
